Aircraft
Maintenance Schools
A
career in aircraft maintenance offers highly skilled repair work
in a fast-moving environment. Most aircraft mechanics have a certificate
approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with an Airframe
and Powerplant ('A&P') rating, allowing them to work on all
parts of an aircraft except instruments. Some mechanics specialize
in carrying out scheduled maintenance, whilst others focus on repairing
aircraft when a pilot has detected a problem, during the pre-flight
check for example. Further down the line, there are opportunities
to complete inspections required by the FAA. Completion of a program
at a certified Aircraft Maintenance School provides students with
the FAA's Mechanic's Certificate so sought after by employers.
