Airplane Maintenance & Automotive Schools & Training

Aircraft Maintenance Schools

Training to be an aviation mechanic is a fairly long and rigorous task, but it has to be because mistakes cannot happen when maintaining aircraft. The risk of mechanical failure in mid air will cost lives, and in the case of commercial aviation, it can be hundreds of lives. Aviation mechanics have to be the best, and their training reflects this.

Aircraft Maintenance Schools

A career in aircraft maintenance offers highly skilled repair work in a fast-moving environment. Most aircraft mechanics have a certificate approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with an Airframe and Powerplant ('A&P') rating, allowing them to work on all parts of an aircraft except instruments. Some mechanics specialize in carrying out scheduled maintenance, whilst others focus on repairing aircraft when a pilot has detected a problem, during the pre-flight check for example. Further down the line, there are opportunities to complete inspections required by the FAA. Completion of a program at a certified Aircraft Maintenance School provides students with the FAA's Mechanic's Certificate so sought after by employers.
